My Grandma……

My Grandma…… She has always been there. My life growing up with nothing normal by any means.  My Grandma and Grandpa took me in when I was around 18 months old.  She raised me as her own and tried to make my life as “normal” as possible I believe.  You see,  my mom left when I was a little over one. She left my dad and I with no explanation. My dad was struggling to say the least and the only option to have some stability was to go with Grandma.  I remember growing up I was a little embarrassed to be living with my grandparents, not many kids did.  I remember she would skimp and save to allow my to get braces, the clothes I needed and the one thing I remember the most was one Christmas when I got my first pair of Nike sneakers. They were white with a red stripe. I know she saved for those, she worked at a bar across the road from our house. It was the place all the locals hung out in our little town of Vestal Center. I know she saved the little money she had to buy them for me. She always gave up so much so I could have. I appreciate the heart she has for me. When ever I call her to this day she will always say ” Oh Nick, I was just thinking of you and was about to call “. She does not have much these days. She is not able to get around very good anymore.  We went up over Easter weekend to see her.  It had been a while, too long and I could not believe how little she was.  She was this little old women so tickled, as she would say, to see her granddaughter and her 6 great grandkids.  She had not seen Kate since she had been born so I wanted to capture some moments with the two of them and then with all the kids.  These are some of the images I will treasure, not sure how much longer Grandma will be with us.  I was glad we made the drive and I know she was too.

As I think about my life growing up and my life now that is so different from how I grew up, I see how God orchestrated my life to make me who I am today. I have not regrets, thankful actually, for the person God has molded me to be. I strive to be a wife who loves her husband with all of my heart, and a mom who will love her kids not matter what. Those two things I never saw growing up so I am even more determined to be that for God and then for my family. I am so thankful, so thankful to my Heavenly Father who kept watch over me growing up and allowed me to marry my soul mate and to bless us with 6 amazing kids.  Thank you Jesus for your love and your blessings, and to My Grandma for taking me in and making the best of what was set before me.

Here is a glimpse of our visit…… I love them all but I am touched by the one where Grandma is touching Luke’s hair, she could not believe how curly it was. It was a tender moment for sure.

Anticipating Something Sweet……

A sweet baby girl that is!!!! This is Ashley and her husband.  Ashley was the other mommy to be who won the drawing for Live Simply Photography’s Facebook Maternity Challenge. I so loved getting to know this couple.  They were super fun to be around and visit with. I could tell the love that they had for one another the longer we were together, just by the way they laughed and looked at each other. They simple enjoyed each other’s company and could not wait for their baby girl to arrive.  It brought back the memories for me of my first, the tenderness of a baby, who can not just melt when you think of the tiny “everything” of a baby and to see PINK, it is all such a gift.  Thank you Ashley for the time you allowed me to photograph some tender times between you and your very best friend and the anticipation of your baby girl!  Many blessings to you in the days come…….

All Things New…….

New Blog, New Website, New Ideas, Spring Time and New babies!!!!

It has been a while since my last post.  Things have been busy around my house since February.  Lacrosse season has started and need I say no more:) I also have been busy updating my website, my new blog ( hope you like it), I also have been doing a lot of thinking and I have come up with some new ideas, lots of them actually to get things rolling on the photography side of things. I was very itchy to get things rolling  now that  the cold weather is gone and wanted to change things up a bit to make things more simple for you and for me in this stage of my life and yours – because aren’t we are all so busy….. BUT we all need and want to get pictures done because the time just goes by so fast. Sometimes I feel I am hanging on for dear life!  Anyone? I know I feel that way everyday.

One idea that I had that I am going to incorporate this year is Mini Sessions. Short, Sweet and Quick.  These session will only last 30 min or so. To try it out I posted a contest on Facebook to begin my venture of the 30 minute session concept. So far it has been great. I have done 6 sessions and everyone LOVES it!  There are so many benefits to them. One- you get pictures done, Two- there is no stress, Three- it does not take up the whole day, Four- Everyone is happy and in a good mood because they know it is ONLY 30 minutes!  So.. There you have it. You can contact me for more details, I have changed a lot of things and I would love to share!

SO without further ado….. This is Lisa and her sweet family. She was chosen in the first contest I held on Facebook in the Maternity Category. I feel I have found a friend with her genuine smile and her warm heart and I must tell you I was fascinated with the gorgeous red hair, can you believe it!!! I Loved it. The day was beautiful, perfect to get outside and enjoy the beginnings of spring. Her little guy was very curious walking around and loved the little red wagon I brought for him. I was pleased with what we were able to capture in just that short amount of time. In that 30 minute time we captured a bit of  ”time” because the by the end of May their lives will be forever changed with another baby boy. Times goes by so fast and it is always changing, it is images that make time stand still just a little bit and take us back to the day and it is then we can sit and  savor the moments….

Awesome photos of Lisa and her little and big man! Love both the color and b/w. Not sure which I prefer ’cause their beautiful hair color would not come through in b/w! Thx for the chance to comment.
